It was a dream of a retired farmer to develop the area south of the Houda Athletic Field into a Native Prairie Garden. Back in 2006 the work began for this dream to come true. Grants were written and received for financial support. Many hours of time were donated by volunteers to remove non-native trees, plant native trees, reseed grass and native flowers to this area. Paths were made to facilitate a walking tour. Their goal is to remind us of the native species and provide a place for people to relax, learn, exercise and enjoy.” Most recently the garden was cleaned up and paths were renewed. The Industrial Tech class built a bridge last spring. This past weekend the Dusty Trails 4-H Club devoted their time sprucing up the trails so all can continue to enjoy the garden.
