Here are a few important dates and times as we start getting into our fall activities:
Junior High Football- Starts Monday, August 19th right after school
Volleyball- 9-12 starts 8:00 am on Thursday, August 15th (Middle School Optional)
High School Football- First practice 8:00 am on Thursday, August 8th
Cross Country- First practice Thursday, August 15th at 6:45 am
The Kimball School District is excited to announce that we are going to be a device-free environment! See the image for more information on the new cell phone policy. There will be handouts of the new policy at the open house on August 14th.
Reminder: This week is Sanford's sports physical week. All 6-12 grade students that plan on participating in any sport this school year must complete a physical. Please call the clinic to schedule an appointment. Also, Thursday, August 1st, there will be a Fall Sports Night. This will be a chance to turn in physical paperwork if it has been completed and to meet with coaches. We will also touch on a few important policies. It will begin at 6:30 pm in the Den in Kimball.

The annual sports physical week is July 29th through August 2nd at the Sanford Medical Clinic. Payment of the physicals is donated back to the Kimball School. Any student in grades 6-12 that is participating in any sport this school year will need to have one completed before they can participate. Contact the clinic to schedule a time. The 2024-25 physical paperwork can be found on the school webpage under Athletics.
Note of experience from Kimber Rasmussen:
I attended Girls State at The University of South Dakota on June 3rd-8th. Over the week I learned many new things such as how the many different branches of government work and how to promote our mythical political parties. During the week I decided to take the bar exam. This opened me up to the judicial branch of the government. I was appointed by one of the girls from my county to be a Magistrate Judge. With this role I conducted a preliminary hearing for a mock case. Once we were done with preliminary hearings, they asked for volunteers to become a deputy state’s attorney. I said yes because I was genuinely interested in the different roles in the judicial branch and wanted to see it from a different perspective. I learned how to argue on behalf of the state, and we won our case! I highly recommend this experience to anyone who is eligible to go, and I thank the Kimball Post for giving me this opportunity.

Good luck to our KWL tracksters! Today, the state track meet begins in Sioux Falls and runs through Saturday. The girls and boys 4x800 relays will lead things off for us today. The girls 4x800 begins at 11:40 and the boys begins at 12:50.

Congratulations to these students for being selected among over 500 auditions to participate in the SD Music Educators Association Elementary Honor Choir! Good luck to Maya DeJong, Addyson Dorwart, Esther Schultz, Vonni Tyrrell & Paisley Kirsch as they prepare for the concert this fall.
Students entering 5th-12th grade who are interested in joining band are encouraged to stop in Wednesday, May 29 to check out the instruments. We hope to see many 5th graders and we look forward to seeing any other grade student who is interested in joining the fun! You can stop by any time between 9am and noon.
